I spent the last week in a rabid packing binge in preparation for my move to Portland Oregon next week. So this painting represents how I feel after the packing, the cleaning, and the selling of all the crap I had collected over the past 6 yeas living in New York. The majority of my stuff was artwork. I packed most of the nudes from the blog into 4 large boxes that total 100 lbs. The movers picked them up earlier in the week, and hopefully they will survive the trip across the country.

This piece was painted the day of the the 3-Year Anniversary of Nude of the Day at the Illustration Master Class. This was a long pose, about 80 minutes long. It was a new challenge for me because normally I spend one fourth of the time on the nudes you see here. My plan of attack was to block in the major shapes and start working on the body and leave the head for after the model takes her break. But the model held the pose for almost an hour strait. I spent that time fiddling with the background and redoing her hand and after she took her break I attacked the head as planned. All in all, it was both a fun and a frustrating experience that I want to try many more times.

Anyways, back to the festivities of today. I hope everyone has a great 4th, with much food, fun and friends.
