I stated drawing this pose with a pencil and although the face was coming together fine I didn't like the composition. This was my second attempt, sans pencil. It went even worse than the first. But I decided to suffer through and added the pastel while waiting for the washes to dry. This may be far from a success but there are certain shapes in the face that appeal to me.
