WOW!!! I can't believe that a WHOLE DECADE has passed since I started this blog. Thank you everyone who has visited my little corner of the interwebs, left nice comments, and bought the original paintings! Here is the post that started it all 10 years ago.

I know I've been neglecting this blog for a while now. Life has a way of getting in the way. I've still continued the practice of weekly figure drawing. That is until this past August of 2016. I moved to Amman, Jordan with my wife so she can gather research for her Ph.D. However, in this conservative culture, figure drawing the nude model is not something easily accessible. I've searched around for some sessions but no luck. I miss it dearly and I can't wait to start back up when we return to the States in September. Maybe I'll even find time to scan a few in and resume posting.

This was painted way back in December 2006 in the same session at the Society of Illustrators as the first image I ever posted on this blog. I'm getting a bit nostalgic because tomorrow is the 4-year Anniversary of Nude of the Day.

Remember this post, the one that started this little blog? Well this painting is from the same session way back in 2007. I was reminded of this painting of Julie Atlas Muz after seeing her in a recent episode of HBO's Bored to Death and decided to post it to commemorate my 1234th Nude. This may be a weird milestone, but once you go over 1000 there's not a lot of milestones left. Besides, it's fun to go back a few years and see how the work I did then compares to the work I'm doing now. Plus it gives me an excuse to plug the Holiday Sale which I'm starting a month earlier.

The Society of Illustrators Jazz & Sketch gets pretty crowded from time to time. It was no different one of my first weeks there. I started this Drawing with a clear view of Julie only to be obstructed by a fellow artist returning to his seat. I worked around him as best I could. Eventually I decided to include him as well. I can't remember if it was intentional or not, but I like the placement of the artist's hand drawing Julie.

I'll be out of town for the next two weeks. I'm heading out to San Diego for the annual ComicCon International and then up to San Francisco. I'm bringing my Best of Nude of the Day: Year One book to promote it on the west coast. In the Introduction of the book I talk about how this blog came to be and how I got involved with the Society of Illustrators. While I'm away I prepared about two weeks of posts with some of my first sketches (from April 2005) at the Society of Illustrators Jazz & Sketch.
